When Avaya, a leading global provider of real-time business collaboration and communications solutions, decided to relocate its long-time regional headquarters in Westminster, Colorado to Thornton, it selected trusted partner Swinerton to complete the
The project involved over four floors of renovations, spanning nearly 120,000-square-feet. Project features include build-out of data centers housing CRAC units, uninterruptible power supply equipment, data cable trays, and in-row cooling racks to distribute power and cooling of the dry lab areas, which are vital to Avaya’s research and development of communication devices. In addition to construction of conference and client training rooms, employee cafés, glass-fronted private offices, and low-height systems furniture create a collaborative, open-concept working environment.
Renovations also included the installation of an EMC anechoic chamber. This self-contained room absorbs all radio frequencies to ensure positive results from equipment testing, which required upfront coordination with Avaya, the chamber manufacturer, and Swinerton’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection subcontractors to ensure proper planning of on-site
As Colorado’s economy continues to boom, Avaya’s office relocation was completed at a time when Denver’s subcontracting community faced, and continues to face skilled labor shortages, which Swinerton was able to overcome.
