Congratulations to the University of Denver students who won the competition to re-imagine and re-design Marcus Commons competition! Since October, a group of Swinerton employees have been advising a team of graduate students attending the Franklin L. Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management at the Daniels College of Business in the competition focused on improving the open space in the Daniels College known as Marcus Commons.
Three Burns School graduate student teams partnered with local contractors and architects for the competition. Swinerton thanks OZ Architecture and Pear Workplace Solutions in their efforts to help the students also.
The student teams competed by conducting stakeholder interviews and a due diligence report, a student experience value proposition statement, design concept, constructability review, sequencing plans, FF&E recommendations and a conceptual cost estimate. Judges from CBRE Workplace, Google, Federal Realty Investment Trust, Fentress and the DU campus architect judged the competition.
Congratulations to all students, contractors, judges and industry partners who participated in this event.
