Swinerton to Begin Work at NIST

Swinerton Builders Government (SBG) was recently selected by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for design-build services to renovate Building 3 at the NIST campus in Boulder, Colorado.

Built in 1951, Building 3 is a 18,000-square-foot structure that will require extensive demolition, renovation, and new construction to expand the building into 41,000 square feet of new office, laboratory, and supporting spaces for approximately 105 scientists and staff. Building 3 will serve as the headquarters for the Communications Technology Laboratory, a newly formed organizational unit. The completed project is expected to provide comfortable and functional interior and supporting spaces, improve energy efficiency and sustainability, and result in an architecturally superior facility that will enhance the appearance of the NIST campus.

Our design partners CooverClark and Merrick & Company will start design right away, while construction is anticipated to complete in July 2017.
