Swinerton Builders Portland recently completed the 12,000-square-foot tenant build-out for the University of Oregon’s Executive Masters of Business Administration and Sports Product Management programs. The build-out ran concurrently with the completion of core and shell work completed by another general contractor.
The space features a tiered lecture hall, several classrooms, and a variety of break-out/study areas. Exposed ceilings reveal the mechanical, electrical, and data systems that were carefully coordinated for clean lines and organization. Other finishes include polished concrete floors, rolling barn doors, back painted glass, and a lumber feature wall.
The team completed the project before the first day of the fall term; however, the building did not receive occupancy until winter break when the core/shell general contractor completed their scope. The university moved in and students were able to utilize the new space for the winter term.
The client and university were so satisfied with how the new space turned out, Swinerton is now starting a second phase of the project, which includes the build-out of additional space for the sports management program on the second floor of the Block 8L building.
