Philanthropic Efforts Strong in SeattleContributor: Swinerton Blogger | August 24, 2015
Swinerton Builders Seattle has been on a strong volunteering streak the past few months, putting in time and effort at various community events. The team started off their stride by supporting Rebuilding Together Seattle—an organization that provides free home repairs to low-income homeowners and non-profit facilities in the greater Seattle area. The team utilized their construction savvy and donated a total of 350 man-hours to help rebuild Ruthie Arline’s home and yard in West Seattle. The project included adding a walkway with handrails, extending the driveway, remodeling a restroom, removing 30 yards of debris, rebuilding a food storage area, trimming overgrown foliage, and hazardous cleaning.
Continuing their momentum, the team also participated in the 33rd Annual Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes event in May. The event is a fundraiser for JDRF—the largest charitable supporter of Type 1 Diabetes research—and consisted of an 8K run and wheelchair race, a four-mile walk, one-mile fun run, and diaper derby for toddlers. During the race, the team joined hundreds of other locals in the four-mile walk and made their way across the Seattle University Bridge before it was raised. The team had a wonderful time, and is looking forward to participating again next year!
Special thanks to all those for devoting your time and efforts the past several months.
