#BuildingExcellence & Turning Heads in HawaiiContributor: Swinerton Blogger | July 23, 2014
So far in 2014, the Hawaii division has been recognized in the community by winning several industry awards that have others turning heads.
Excellence in Our People
In January, Vice President and Division Manager George Ehara was honored by the Hawaii Regional Council of Carpenters and Pacific Resource Partnership as the “2014 Outstanding Union Builder of the Year.” In April, Hawaii Business Magazine ranked Swinerton Builders #2 among the “Best Places to Work in Hawaii.” This makes Swinerton Builders a “Best Places to Work” recipient three years in a row. Swinerton was also recognized again this year as being among “Hawaii’s Top 250 Companies.” This is also Swinerton’s third consecutive year in being recognized in this category.
Excellence in Our Projects
At this year’s 2014 NAIOP Kukulu Hale Awards, Swinerton Builders competed against over a hundred project entries. Our project entries included Turtle Bay Resort and the newly renovated five-star luxury resort the Andaz Maui at Wailea. At the end of the night, the Andaz Maui at Wailea received the highly esteemed “New Project Award” for commercial projects over 40,000 square feet followed by the Turtle Bay Resort which received the “Renovation Award.” In addition to the NAIOP awards the Andaz Maui at Wailea received a “Merit Award” by the General Contractors Association of Hawaii.
Excellence in Safety
Swinerton Builders was awarded the 2014 Safety Award by the General Contractors Association of Hawaii. The division was recognized as the “GCA Best in Category and Zero Incident Rate of 500,000 and up.” This achievement could not have been possible without the efforts of Safety Managers Dan Vasilash and Kenan Sonoda, and the men and women who work safely and diligently each day, implementing a solid safety program throughout the division.
As we reach the halfway mark of 2014, we certainly have a lot to look forward to in the next coming months. You can keep tabs exclusively on the Hawaii division @swinertonhi on Twitter. Congratulations to the entire Hawaii division for#buildingexcellence in Hawaii.
