First Design-Build Parking Structure at DIA Underway

Alone we can do little, together we can do so much—the sustaining mantra for the Swinerton Builders Colorado team leading the design-build parking structure at Denver International Airport (DIA).

The first project at DIA to be delivered design-build, the MOD 4 East Parking Structure project consists of a four-story, cast-in-place garage located at the southeast corner of the airport’s terminal. Once complete, the structure will expand DIA’s parking capacity by 1,800 spaces and finalize the eight-module parking design that wraps the terminal building. Design and preconstruction services began in October 2014 and the first elevated deck pour completed in September 2015. Thanks to the team effort of design partner Walker Parking and strong subcontractors, the project team broke ground in February 2015, and anticipates substantial project completion in September 2016. As of October 2015, the team has performed zero lost-time and zero recordable injuries—a feat that is very much appreciated by all.

Keep up the amazing work team: Design Manager Dennis Ashley, Project Manager Michael Brown, Superintendents Scott Hill and Adam Haviland, Quality Control Manager Christina M. Tetrick, Site Safety Manager Mike Kenyon, Project Engineers Dillon Rodriguez and Mark Norin, and Project Field Administrator Calah Duryea.
