Landing Safely at LAX

This summer, Swinerton Builders Orange County and Los Angeles completed the large-scale Westfield LAX Terminal 6 project! Construction for this project began in October 2014, which consisted of a significant amount of work to the terminal to bring new life to outdated spaces. In all the team built 22 new tenant spaces comprised of 11 new retail stores and 11 new food/beverage areas; they also constructed a new indoor balcony as part of one of the dining court areas.

As part of a new federal regulation, all airport terminals must have a pet relief area past security. To meet this requirement the team built a fun new space that features an outdoor patio with several amenities for people and their pets to enjoy. The team also remodeled three sets of restrooms, added all new terrazzo flooring and carpeting throughout the terminal, retrofitted the lighting throughout the gate areas, and provided new column cover finishes. They also added new wayfinding signage, while also building a new architectural feature wall housing flight information display and advertising monitors. Standing almost 20 feet tall, it features stainless steel fins and architectural mesh for a very modern look.
