Students from the University of Colorado Denver Business School Risk Management and Insurance program received a real-life lesson in commercial construction risk management when they toured Swinerton’s Hyatt House & Hyatt Place Hotel project shortly after the building topped-out. Established in 2011, the program prepares students for the fast-growing field of risk management and the insurance industry through experiential learning with industry partners.
As part of the tour, Central Group Regional Safety Manager Neal Roark and Shiel Sexton Project Manager Tyrone Garrison gave members of the Gamma Lota Sigma Business Fraternity a behind-the-scenes look at potential safety and insurance risks of commercial high-rise construction. Shiel Sexton is Swinerton’s joint-venture partner on the project.
Swinerton is pleased to collaborate with the University and provide an engaging learning experience to these soon-to-be risk management and insurance professionals.
