Swinerton Joins RTSF for Annual Kickoff to Rebuild EventContributor: Swinerton Blogger | February 17, 2016 | Image Gallery »
Ms. Whitlock has lived in San Francisco’s Bayview district for over 30 years. Her house was built in 1906—the year of the great earthquake—and like many residents in the district, she has struggled to maintain her home. The City by the Bay is now the most expensive city to reside in the United States, and due to its limited supply of affordable housing, many long-time residents have been forced to vacate.
Rebuilding Together San Francisco (RTSF) is committed to ensuring that these residents and many local community members have the support they need to keep their roots in San Francisco. On February 5, Swinerton volunteers rolled up their sleeves for Ms. Whitlock, providing critical repairs to her home for Rebuilding Together and the NFL’s annual Kickoff to Rebuild event. In addition to Ms. Whitlock’s home, 100 volunteers from Lowe’s, CBRE, Bridgestone, Bose, Lendlease, and Pacific Structures provided nearly $200,000 worth of repairs to five other neighborhood homes, as well as a residential home for women and children.
Swinerton’s participation in Kickoff to Rebuild is part of a long-term partnership we have established with the non-profit. In addition to this event, Swinerton will sponsor RTSF’s annual Builders & Brewers fundraiser, and partner on two local community projects—a kitchen remodel at IT Bookman Community Center and the renovation of a liquor store into a “Hacker Hub” for disadvantaged youth
later this year.
Special thanks to all Swinerton team members and the many volunteers for your dedicated time and efforts to support a great cause!
