This summer, thousands of high school students from the Los Angeles High School Unified District (LAUSD) made their way to the 7th Annual Construction Awareness Day, held at Los Angeles Trade Tech College (LATTC). An average of 3,000 students representing 40 different LAUSD high schools, and a handful of local community colleges, attend this must-go-to event each year.
Construction Awareness Day is a nationally recognized event that exposes students to careers in the construction industry. The highly-anticipated day provides students with hands-on activities courtesy of local construction companies and trade unions, including industry equipment on display as well as career internship opportunities, and apprenticeship programs. Among the various companies present, Swinerton’s own Vice President & Director of Community Relations Rick Moore and Project Manager Robert Lowery were in attendance on behalf of the company. The duo manned Swinerton’s exhibitor booth, while speaking to students about the numerous careers in the industry available to them.
