The Future of Selling & Winning WorkContributor: Swinerton Blogger | May 21, 2014
In the last week of April, senior management, business development, and marketing flocked to Huntington Beach, California, for Swinerton’s annual sales conference. The overarching goal of the event is quality face time with peers, sharing of best practices, and charting a course for continuous improvement in our team. This year the program, focused on the future of selling and winning work, featured internal lessons learned panels, collaborative breakout discussions, and two stand-out external presentations directly from project partners “The Owners Perspective: Reading Between the Lines of an RFP” and “How to Take Great Marketing Risks and Nix Poor Trends.”
The knowledge and camaraderie gained during this time together by the coast was invaluable...as was the little fun in the sun we squeezed in! One of the highlights of the three days was the charity bike build session, which separated our team into six groups that faced off in a series of hilarious challenges to earn bike parts and “spirit points” in a race to assemble six bikes for donation to the Boys & Girls Club of America. While a group was crowned first place at the end, everyone was a winner! There were grins all around as the Boys & Girls Club departed with six, quality-control checked bikes ready for well-deserving children. Until next year!
