Swinerton Renewable Energy joined with representatives from Gulf Power, Coronal Energy and Panasonic for a first panel installation ceremony on January 18th near Pensacola, Florida. The two ceremonies were held at Eglin Air Force Base and Saufley Naval Field and were attended by members of the U.S. Air Force and Navy.
The utility-scale solar projects at Eglin and Saufley, developed as a collaboration between Gulf Power and the military, are among the first solar facilities to be built in Northwest Florida. Together with a third facility at Holley Field, the 164 MW portfolio will power 18,000 homes per year. The plants are expected to come online as early as late spring.
