The Swinerton Foundation Annual Report - page 14

SAN DIEGO
HEROES IN ACTION
It was an early Saturday morning on September 17 when
65 Swinerton volunteers showed up at Balboa Park in San
Diego. Each year, the group registers a team to participate
in the Heart Walk—lacing up their shoes in support of the
American Heart Association (AHA). The 5k walk is one of
the largest events that the AHA hosts nationally, bringing
together nearly one million Americans at 305 sites to build
healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
The San Diego group’s long history with the organization has
made it a signature event for the team. They have dedicated
time and resources to help the cause, and their support has
only grown stronger over time. This year, the group was able
to raise $40,573 for AHA, making them #5 in funds raised
out of over 82 companies that participated. Additionally,
Swinerton’s own Laura Campion beat out everyone at
the walk, crossing the finish line in under 20 minutes. Too
focused to be interrupted, when a reporter asked to interview
her she simply high–fived him and continued to run!
