SEATTLE
HEROES IN ACTION
The Pacific Northwest is known as the wet green pocket
of the United States. Its landscape is filled with mountain
ranges, tall trees, great lakes, and natural hot springs,
providing the perfect atmosphere for summer and winter
activities. Locals can be found enjoying all that nature has to
offer—rock climbing, trail running, skiing, kayaking, cycling,
and hiking throughout the year.
Outdoors for All was founded to give people with disabilities
the chance to enjoy these activities, too. Its mission is
to enrich the quality of life for children and adults with
disabilities through outdoor recreation. Activities promote
education, independence, socialization, and exposure to
adaptive equipment and techniques.
Cory Bailey is a volunteer for Outdoors for All, donating
his time every Friday during the winter to the organization.
He provides guidance and support for activities, including
downhill skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, and
snowshoeing. This year, he completed 73 hours of volunteer
work helping Dan get back on the slopes. It was a rewarding
experience for Cory, who pledges to do everything he can to
help others in need whenever possible.
