Heart and Stroke Walk
On September 16, over 70 Swinerton Builders San Diego employees, friends, and family members joined nearly 10,000 other walkers at the American Heart Association’s (AHA) 26th Annual Heart and Stroke Walk in Balboa Park. This marks the eighth consecutive year that Swinerton has been raising funds and recruiting walkers for the event. During this time, Swinerton has raised a grand total of $192,258.
Out of 60 companies that participated this year, Swinerton Builders San Diego and Swinerton Renewable Energy ranked #3 for the most money raised. They surpassed their $50,000 goal, raising an impressive total of $54,781. Team Swinerton contributed to the total with $22,850—which placed them #2 on the team list. Vice President/Division Manager Mark Payne—who donates his time to serve on AHA’s Executive Leadership Team—brought in a huge portion of the funds, with an incredible $22,500—making him the #1 individual fundraiser for the entire event!
Local subcontractor Cosco Fire Protection partnered with the team to donate $5,000 and recruit a dozen employees to join the Walk. Other significant donors included A&D Fire Sprinklers ($1,000), La Mesa Glass ($3,000), Bergelectric ($3,000), and client Viejas ($4,450). A great teambuilding day was had by everyone, all in the name of a great cause.
A sincere thanks go out to them for donating their time and money to make the event a rousing success! Special thanks go out to the 13 team Captains and to Drywall Superintendent Brian McQueen and his family for recreating the Tribute Wall.
