Sand Makes Great Building Material!

Swinerton partnered with KPFF and MBH and collaborated hand in hand with students from Robert Louis Stevenson and Proctor Elementary Schools at the 35th Annual LEAP Sandcastle Classic at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. Together the team was dubbed The Knights of the Bay. Poor air quality conditions caused by the fires in the North Bay postponed the original competition date, but fortunately the weather was beautiful on the rescheduled date. With building sites stretching as far as the eye could see, there is no doubt that this is the largest sandcastle building event in Northern California.

The Knights of the Bay built their castle in line with this year’s theme—Castles, Castles, Castles! With one castle in one corner of the 20-foot by 20-foot site and another castle in the opposite corner, there was a lot of work to do in the allotted three-hour building period. Thanks to great all-around participation, the day was a huge success! The team even won 1st place for the best t-shirt design.

Thanks to all that came out and supported!
