SRE Jobsites Carve Out Time for Barbeques
Swinerton Renewable Energy is working fast on the Redwood 4 and Buckthorn solar projects, but they made time to host barbecues to show their appreciation to the team and business partners.
Redwood 4, located in Bakersfield, California, is a 20 MW project. The crew held their safety appreciation barbeque on November 8, hosting repeat client 8minutenergy, along with partners Baker, Live Action, Cal Empire, CI, and NEXTracker. Champs BBQ catered lunch on a perfect solar day under sunny blue skies, with guests feasting on pulled pork, chicken, and salad. They handed out personalized project safety shirts, while holding a raffle with prizes donated from the aforementioned partners.
Buckthorn, located in Fort Stockton, Texas, is an enormous 150 MW project. With a crowd of nearly 800 people on November 9, the team rented a 100-foot by 100-foot canopy—which looked like a circus coming to town. With only one barbeque place big enough to feed the masses, they had a Lone Star-sized banquet with brisket, chicken, beans, coleslaw, pickles, peppers, and potatoes. They raffled off tons of great prizes, with one winner so ecstatic that he went around hugging everyone. His enthusiasm was so infectious, he had all 800 people cheering him on.
While the barbeques occurred with deadlines quickly approaching and crews utilizing every hour of the day, everyone who attended saw it as a genuine commitment to the project and a true thank you for their hard work.
