Recurrent Energy: Bruceville 15MWAC Power Plant
Renewable Energy
ELK Grove, California
The Bruceville site is a 15 MW AC solar photovoltaic power plant located on 115 acres of agricultural land in rural and unincorporated Sacramento County near Elk Grove. The project design, which utilizes a single-axis tracking system, is optimized for KWH production into the Sacramento Municipal Utility District feed in tariff program (SMUD FIT).
The single-axis trackers are supported by galvanized H-piles that are vibratory driven to a minimum embedment of 8’. The PV array features Suntech 285W modules with a -0/+5 power tolerance and is designed with a DC/AC ratio of 1.2544 and a ground cover ratio of 48%. The power systems for the arrays are provided by Hill Phoenix 1MW and 2MW Power Center skids, each of which includes Advanced Energy 500kW inverters, (1) 1000 or 2000 kVA transformer, (1) 2000A switchboard, and AC/ DC disconnect switches in one integrated system. The project includes the design and construction of the required substation and interconnection at 69kV. Plant control and monitoring is accomplished through a SCADA system that is designed for inverter-level monitoring.
