Infrastructure & Transportation
Petaluma, California
Swinerton Management & Consulting provided Project Management and Resident Engineering services for various redevelopment projects in the City of Petaluma, California. Services include managing requests for information (RFIs) and change orders, participating in weekly meetings, preparing weekly and monthly reports, reviewing and recommending contractor progress payments, mitigating claims, monitoring the contractor's safety and storm water pollution prevention programs, preparing as-built plans and drafting final reports. Projects include: - Petaluma River Trail Enhancement Project Area 3 - A portion of an $8-million pathway project that will connect the downtown core business district with several suburban neighborhoods. Work includes installing a custom-made pedestrian bridge to cross Washington Creek, constructing a pedestrian and bicycle pathway along the Petaluma River, building a crushed gravel pathway, installing lighting alongside an existing flood wall, placing rebar and pouring concrete for a retaining wall, and installing a handicap ramp walkway approach to the pedestrian bridge. Other project elements include constructing bridge abutments, bridge approaches, wall piers and pilaster sections. Our resident engineer also assists with reviewing the design of another segment of the overall project.
- Downtown Improvements Streetscape - This streetscape project plants trees and installs tree grates around existing trees, replaces portions of sidewalk, installs Superkrete sidewalk patchwork, color stains sidewalk portions, and installs street lighting and street furnishings such as two types of benches, bike bollards and trash receptacles.
- Petaluma Wayfinding Signs - Installs guiding signs and some new historic poles, primarily around the downtown area. Our resident engineer first assisted the City with assembling specifications and bid packages, performing a constructibility review and preparing the engineers estimate.
