To maintain and build upon this strength we offer extensive learning opportunities focused on assisting employees to perform in their current jobs and also on preparing them for new stages in their careers.

Course Catalog & Accreditation Programs

Swinerton's course catalog includes more than 50 instructor led classes covering technical topics such as subcontractor management, safety, construction law and insurance, as well as professional topics, including communication skills, computer proficiency, effective business writing, and time management. These learning opportunities are directly related to career path development within a job group or to an individual's professional development goals.

Swinerton also supports external training and accreditation as a part of each employee's development. Internal experts on green construction and safety offer LEED AP and Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) study sessions to prepare employees for their accreditation exams, and Swinerton reimburses registration costs for employees who choose to become accredited.

Major Programs

In addition to the calendar of classes held in each operating group, Swinerton offers a corporate New Employee Integration Program that gives employees from all office locations the opportunity to see our corporate headquarters in San Francisco and learn from the extensive experience of our executive team.

We also offer Focused Programs that are tailored to provide specific job groups with the technical knowledge and philosophical understanding of how we do business. These programs include:

  • 5-day Foundations Program for Project Engineers
  • 4-day Structural Program for Project Managers
  • 3-day Cornerstone Program for Superintendents

Leadership Development

Swinerton offers an extensive leadership development program called LeaderBuilder. The LeaderBuilder series consists of four two-day programs that take place over the course of two years and focuses on assisting Swinerton managers in assessing their talents as they relate to their role as a leader with Swinerton Incorporated, acquainting them with the tremendous responsibilities of leadership, providing tools to better develop organizational and communication skills, and enhancing their ability to effectively lead and motivate those for whom they are responsible. In addition, these sessions provide the opportunity to work with and learn from peers, and share leadership experiences and successes.
