Killeen Issues 16 Permits for Duplexes

The homebuilding trend in Killeen continued last week, as the city issued permits, valued at $2.5 million, for new duplexes and new single-family home permits worth $3.6 million.

Harker Heights-based Yellow Lilly Inc. received three $160,000 permits for new duplexes on Loyal Lane. The remaining 13 went to local Jamie Herring Custom Homes, which is building four duplexes on Student Union Drive, and nine on Study Hall Loop.

All Star Homes received nine of the 23 permits for new single-family homes. The Killeen company is building five homes on Newcastle Drive, two homes on Flatrock Mountain Drive, and one on Breeder Lane and Brunswick Drive.

Ashford Homes will build seven homes on Castle Gap Drive. Ashton Austin Residential will build five homes — two on Legacy Lane, two on Taffinder Lane and one on Inspiration Drive.

Carothers Homes Inc. received two permits for homes on Ancestor Drive. Cameo Homes Inc. received a $281,900 permit for a home on Dripping Springs Drive.

Remodeling permits for single-family and multifamily homes totaled $851,509 following a March hailstorm.

The city issued a $215,400 permit to Med Tech Construction, which is based in Rockwall, for finish-out work on Fusion Dental, 4102 Clear Creek Road, Suite 102, and a $150,000 new commercial permit to Austin-based Swinerton Builders.

Kim Williams, director of special projects at Swinerton Builders, said the company began work last week on a location for a new ATM.

Williams said the ATM will open within the next six or seven weeks.
