Swinerton Renewable Energy Partners with D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments and Sungrow on Red Horse 3 Solar Project
San Diego, California: Building on the success of Red Horse 2 wind and solar project, Swinerton Renewable Energy (SRE) was selected by an affiliate of D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments, L.L.C. (DESRI) to construct the Red Horse 3 solar project.
Work on this 30 MW AC project, which is located near Willcox, Arizona, roughly 80 miles east of Tucson, began in December and is slated to complete in the second quarter of 2016. The project features Sungrow central inverters, Jinko modules, and Array Technologies Inc. single-axis trackers. The power generated by the facility is expected to connect directly into the Tucson Electric Power grid.
Red Horse 3 is being built on land adjacent to Red Horse 2. In addition to engineering, procurement, and construction duties, SRE has a 10-year agreement to provide operations and maintenance services for both projects. Trusted partner Blymyer Engineers has been contracted to provide engineering services alongside the SRE team. SRE is dedicated to hiring from the local workforce, and nearly two-thirds of the on-site employees are residents of the surrounding area.
"Red Horse 3 is yet another example of a successful joint effort with DESRI to bring both jobs and affordable, clean energy to the residents of Arizona," said Mr. George Hershman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Swinerton Renewable Energy. "We are also excited to partner with Sungrow, an innovative developer of energy conversion products, to use their inverters for the first time."
“Sungrow is happy to be a part of Red Horse 3 and anticipates this project to be the first of many renewable projects with the Swinerton and DESRI teams as we serve this growing industry,” said Professor Renxian Cao, CEO of Sungrow. “We look forward to delivering the highest quality products so we can help build a best-in-class solar farm with our valued partners.”
