DEN, DPS Projects Recognized by DBIA

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), Rocky Mountain Region chapter, presented Swinerton Builders with three awards at their annual meeting in early December. DEN Mod 4, a new 1,800-space parking structure, located at Denver International Airport (DEN), won in the Civic Category. DBIA named the East Quad Campus, recently dedicated as the Regis F. Groff Campus, the Best Educational Facility and Best Overall Design-Build Project for 2016.

The local chapter commended Walker Parking and Swinerton, the Mod 4 design-build team, for completing the project without impacting DEN’s airport operations and the passenger experience. Part of this success encompassed successfully relocating utilities which tied into the most vital FAA communications infrastructure that linked DEN’s south campus to the control tower.

The team for the East Quad Campus project, designed by Eidos Architects, received accolades for putting forth the best attributes of design-build and teaming to deliver the 71,100-square-foot high school in 18 months, including the creation of a site master plan and completion of a significant off-site civil package.

Congratulations to the Swinerton teams, and thank you to our design and engineering partners, as well as our subcontractors for delivering excellence to DEN and Denver Public Schools!
