Ragnar Team Rules The Road!

Colorado’s Rocky Mountains are famous for majestic 14ers: 53 snowcapped peaks reaching towards the clear blue sky more than 14,000 feet above sea level.  On August 8 and 9, 12 brave Swinerton runners explored this high country as part of the Ragnar Relay Series from Copper Mountain to Snowmass. Swinerton’s team, ranging from project executives and superintendents to college interns (and a lot of others in between), accomplished this monumental feat in just 29 hours 42 minutes to finish 25th overall and 14th for the mixed open division.

The team ran a total of 194 official miles (not accounting for any extra miles by the occasional misguided runner) with over 14,000 feet in both elevation gain and loss…which is like running from sea level to the top of one of Colorado’s majestic peaks and back down again!

This year’s race was the Colorado’s second time participating in Ragnar. They have high hope of fielding two teams for 2015! Even though the event operates at a grueling pace with little to no sleep for participants, the camaraderie built amongst the team members is everlasting. This year’s race supported the Special Olympics of Colorado and SOS Outreach.
Great job runners!
