Swinerton Breaks Ground on SkyHouse Denver

Swinerton Builders Colorado recently helped celebrate the groundbreaking for a new 26-story luxury multi-family tower, located in uptown Denver. Joining in the celebration February 17 were developers Novare Group, Batson-Cook Development Company, Simpson Housing, and Batson-Cook Construction.

Swinerton has formed a joint-venture with Atlanta-based general contractor Batson-Cook Construction, who has built 11 SkyHouse projects throughout the southeastern United States. As this project is their first endeavor in Colorado, they turned to Swinerton as their trusted partner for local market knowledge and expertise building in Denver. The alliance between Swinerton and 100-year-old Batson-Cook is based on shared similar firm cultures and strength in longevity.

SkyHouse Denver is a mixed-use project featuring 354 apartment homes ranging from studio to two-bedroom units and 6,900 square feet of street-level retail space. The signature SkyHouse on the top floor of the building includes a club room, swimming pool, and fitness center. The building is targeting next-generation professionals who are choosing to live in urban centers close to public transportation, employment centers, and cultural institutions.

The apartment homes each contain nine-foot ceilings with floor-to-ceiling glass, quartz countertops, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, and porcelain tile. In addition to the SkyHouse amenity deck, SkyHouse Denver will have vehicle charging stations, bike storage, bike kitchen, a dog walk area, and a dog washing station. The sustainable facility is being built to Energy Star standards.

Construction of the cast-in-place concrete tower is happening on what is now a surface parking lot at 18th and Broadway and scheduled to complete in 17 months. The project is designed by Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart and Associates.
