Swinerton Project Engineer Leads Team in NAIOP Challenge WinContributor: Swinerton Blogger | May 13, 2015
Swinerton Builders Colorado’s own Adelicia Colmenero and her University of Denver teammates won NAIOP’s 2015 Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge, prevailing over a team from the University of Colorado.
This year’s competition for real estate graduate students from the DU Daniels College of Business, Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management and the University of Colorado at Boulder Leeds School of Business focused on redevelopment strategies for the Midtown Industrial Center site in River North, one of Denver’s most active and eclectic areas.
Over five months, each student-led team developed strategies related to the vision of the mixed-use development and understanding of the current economy, local market conditions, and land use requirements. Students evaluated the property for economic returns, regulatory constraints, and community interests while maximizing value to the property owner.
Adelicia, along with her seven teammates, were recognized by NAIOP in front of 700 Denver real estate and business professionals at an evening event dedicated to the Challenge. She joined Swinerton Builders in April as a project engineer, and is currently working towards her Master’s in Real Estate and the Built Environment from DU, which she will complete in June.
Congratulations to all participants!
