Swinerton partners with Rebuilding Together SeattleContributor: Swinerton Blogger | May 19, 2017 | Image Gallery »
Earlier this year, the Swinerton Seattle team came together to assist retired carpenter Phillip, a 65-year-old who had recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease around the same time that his house caught on fire. The house was still intact but there was major damage to the siding, and due to Phillip’s diagnosis he was unable to repair any of the damages himself. With Project Engineer Connor Farrell managing the project, Swinerton recruited a team of 30 people and joined forces with Urban Renaissance Group, Metropolitan Hardwood Floors, and Northwest Complete Contracting to lend a helping hand to Phillip.
Upon arrival, the first thing that needed to be done was a major amount of yardwork, so one group tackled the weeds while another focused on the removal of the siding. The large team was also able to work on restoring the wood shed, remodeling the bathroom, pruning the trees, and priming the new siding. While Phillip, a natural handyman, had a hard time at first allowing us to do all of this for him, by the end of the day he had a big smile on his face - which made all the hard work worth it!
Swinerton couldn't have done this without such outstanding project partners: Urban Renaissance, which donated their time and money to Rebuilding Together; Metropolitan Hardwood Floors, which donated their time and all new flooring for Phillip; and Northwest Complete Contracting for donating their time and paint for the new siding on the Philip’s house. Overall, it was a rewarding day and the rain even held off - which made things much more enjoyable!
And of course another big thanks to our Swinerton team, we could not do it without you!
