Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A: Assembling a high performing team of passionate builders. I believe that when we have the right people and a healthy culture in place, doing really great work and developing lasting relationships becomes much easier.
Q: Why are you proud to work for Swinerton?
A: I am most proud to be an Employee Owner at Swinerton. Our organization supports the passions of our people. It’s awesome to have the freedom and support to pursue new technologies and consider new ventures – big things like our Renewable Energy Group and Mass Timber Team have come from this.
Q: What does your typical work day look like?
A: I haven’t had one of those in a long time! My day rarely goes as planned, but I have grown to thrive on busy days where I have to adjust and consciously decide how I invest my time to make the biggest impact. I don’t always get it right, but I try to balance priorities in a way that best supports our end-game.
Q: Career highlights – what comes to mind on that topic?
A: I have been fortunate to be involved in many project types, delivery methods, and size ranges. And one of the most satisfying projects was a $125 million major renovation of a 100-year-old iconic hotel in Chicago. It was really rewarding to first be part of designing a solution that respected the history of the building, and then constructing a high quality, efficient, modern facility that the city could be proud of.
Q: What makes now an exciting time to work in the Southeast?
A: It’s exciting to be working with and supporting our many partners in the Southeast and in other parts of the country. I like the challenge of building our brand and a high-performing operation in the Southeast while expanding the reach of our organization.
Q: How do you spend your free time? And how do you wish you spent your free time?
A: I spend most of my free time with my family. Our kids all started skiing at 2 years old and are quite the skiers now. These days in North Carolina, we are working to make them mountain bikers.
I wish I had more time to be on a rope. I love rock and ice climbing!

Q: Anything else you’d like people to know about you?
A: It’s not hard to talk me into an adventure or physical challenge that seems out of reach. I like to push myself and see what is possible!
