Swinerton hosts Libations and Lumber to Discuss Mass Timber Building

Swinerton was proud to host "Libations and Lumber," a cocktail discussion about Mass Timber design and construction.

Hosted at San Francisco's esteemed Commonwealth Club, over 200 guests arrived to learn more about the emerging market and network with others interested in the future of mass timber building.

Swinerton CEO Jeff Hoopes welcomed and thanked the group, then welcomed Judson True, the Chief of Staff for California Assemblyman David Chiu to the stage. True spoke about building solutions for California, and then presented Swinerton with a proclamation from the State Assembly recognizing Swinerton’s 130-year history and the contributions to the city of San Francisco and the state of California.

Next up were Janelle Leafblad from Woodworks, Rebecca Holt from Perkins + Will, Bevan Jones from Holmes Fire, Erik Kneer from Holmes Structures, and William Silva from Swinerton, who discussed and debated as a panel, focusing on heavy timber design, innovative forest products and mass timber, code implications and recently designed and constructed projects in the region.

All in all, the event was a great success and a great chance to connect over this exciting new building method. Thank you to all who attended, and we look forward to seeing you again at Swinerton's next event!
