Swinerton Tops-out at The REY

This spring, Swinerton Builders San Diego topped-out at The REY, a 22-story high-rise apartment tower in the heart of Downtown San Diego. Originally known as the Blue Sky project, the tower will feature upscale amenities and facilities. Construction started in November 2014 following an involved design phase, with substantial completion set for early 2017.

The REY features 478 residential units across 21 levels and is set atop eight levels of parking, with five below-grade and three above-grade. Construction is nearing its peak point, with concrete pouring four levels a month. Window systems are being installed weekly, with metal panels also being placed at four levels a month.

The roof deck will feature a pool, tanning deck, cabanas, grill, and bar. On the ground-floor level, the lobby was also redesigned. It will feature a bar and club, a leasing office, and a preserved moss accent wall.

Kudos to the team: Mark Payne, Roger Kazemier, Brian McCarthy, Jonathan Holmes, Bobby Jennings, Mike Davison, Pat Kenney, Jonathan Weaver, Joe Neilly, Jeff Schieman, Kim Heinz, and Kristi Ababon.
