More than 700 executives and project team members convened for the Associated General Contractors of California ‘Academy Awards’ honoring winners of nine categories of awards, and Swinerton was delighted to take home the award for “Meeting the Challenge of the Difficult Job – Builder” category for its work at Trinity Phase 3.
Our submission highlighted overcoming challenges such as building six basements below the 45-foot water table and procuring materials from overseas – marble from Italy and a custom 92-foot-tall sculpture from China, where we flew in 14 artisans to reconstruct the Venus statue in three months. This project also achieved Cal/OSHA VPPC (Voluntary Protection Program for Construction) Safety designation for implementing a safety program that exceeded the minimum standards issued by OSHA.
The team faced tough competition with Turner Construction for the Stockton Courthouse and Clark Construction for the design-build Ventura County Medical Center Hospital Replacement Wing. We were extremely proud to have been part of an exclusive group of deserving finalists.
Receiving the award was bittersweet as the team was reminded of the personal loss endured with the passing of owner Angelo Sangiacomo, artist Lawrence Argent, and our Field Operations Manager Tony Williamson. The Trinity Team is committed to fulfilling Angelo’s vision and is hard at work on the final Phase 4.
Congratulations to the Trinity Phase 3 project team for their dedication and esteemed achievement!
