Making San Francisco Brighter

Swinerton Builders is partnering with Dolores Street Community Services (DSCS) to bring a little more sunshine to our San Francisco community. Swinerton has agreed to donate our fee and construction management services to help revamp DSCS’s shelter program. One of the shelter’s primary focuses is to provide a safe haven for members of the LGBT community.

The shelter will receive a much-needed expansion and renovation that will nearly triple the bed space, from 28 to 81 beds. With the project finally approved by the city, renovations are in full swing. The first phase of the remodel began in December of last year and was completed just after the start of the New Year. The work included asbestos abatement of the concrete deck ceilings in four rooms and the installation of new light fixtures. Frequent air samples were performed to avoid contamination for those working in adjacent spaces.

The second phase involves the addition of fire sprinklers throughout the facility and expanding the useable bed space area from one to three rooms. The remodel also includes four new restrooms, each equipped with brand-new showers. The second phase is scheduled for completion this spring. Swinerton is proud to serve our community and grateful for the partnership with DSCS on this very meaningful opportunity to give back!
